Places Worth Discovering

In southeastern Romania, between the Danube and the Black Sea, Dobrogea is home to monasteries that preserve centuries of religious tradition, architecture, and cultural memory. Some are well known. Others remain unfamiliar to visitors from beyond the region.

As a Romanian photographer, I have begun a personal journey to visit and photograph the monasteries of Dobrogea, one by one. Through this project, I hope to share their beauty with people who may never have had the opportunity to discover them.

Each visit becomes an opportunity to observe the architecture, the surrounding landscape, the details of monastic life, and the atmosphere that makes each place distinctive.

UPCOMING

Alongside the photographs, I am developing a series of point-of-view videos documenting my visits to the monasteries.

The videos will offer viewers a chance to accompany me as I explore each location, discover photographic compositions, and capture the details that draw my attention.

The series will be shared on my YouTube channel as the project develops.

BOOK IN DEVELOPMENT

The Great Monasteries of Dobrogea is also taking shape as a photography book, bringing together images from the monasteries visited throughout the project.

The book will offer a visual introduction to these remarkable places, inviting readers from Romania and abroad to discover a part of the country’s Orthodox heritage through photography.

Further details about the book will be announced as the project progresses.
