A Familiar Posture

Look around a train station, a café, or a busy street. Everywhere, heads are lowered, shoulders curved, eyes fixed on the small screens we carry. The gesture has become so familiar that we barely notice it anymore.

The Great Hunch explores this everyday relationship with the mobile phone through photography and writing. The project brings together moments observed in public life with reflections on attention, connection, habits, and the place technology has come to occupy in our lives.

Where Photography Meets Research

The Great Hunch is a book project developed by photographer Alin Bratu and researcher and author Raluca Stana.

Drawing on her research into our relationship with digital technology, Raluca brings the written perspective. Alin contributes the visual narrative: photographs that give the ideas a human presence, revealing the emotions, gestures, and everyday scenes behind the words.

Together, their work explores how photography and research can illuminate different dimensions of the same contemporary experience.
